Matthews Cleaning Company was born from a defining moment in the life of our founder, Jordan Matthews.
At just 18, Jordan encountered unfair labor practices while working for a Newcastle cleaning business. Rather than accept this mistreatment, he took a chance and submitted a cleaning services bid for a major mixed-use building in the city’s CBD. When his proposal was approved at the annual general meeting, Matthews Cleaning Company was officially launched.
From the very beginning, Jordan worked tirelessly on weekday shifts, while his younger brother, Ryan—starting his first job—stepped in on weekends. Their dedication quickly built a reputation for reliability and high-quality service, opening doors to further contracts, including the prestigious T&G Mutual Building.
Central to Matthews Cleaning Company’s growth is Jordan’s commitment to ethical business practices. Determined that no one on his team would ever experience the hardships he once endured, Jordan fostered a workplace culture rooted in respect and continuous improvement. This mindset fueled rapid expansion, leading to the acquisition of a commercial cleaning company on the mid-north coast just three years later.
