The origins of Matthews Cleaning Co. trace back to a challenging moment for our founder, Jordan Matthews, at just 18 years old.

After experiencing unfair labor practices in a Newcastle based cleaning business, Jordan faced a critical turning point. Seizing an opportunity, he tendered a bid for cleaning services at a prominent mixed-use building in the CBD.

His proposal was accepted after the annual general meeting, marking the inception of Matthews Cleaning Co.

From the outset, Jordan dedicated himself to the company, handling weekday cleaning tasks, while his younger brother, Ryan, took over on weekends. This marked Ryan’s first job, and together, they laid the foundation for a trustworthy business. The company quickly gained a reputation for reliability and quality, opening doors to more opportunities, such as servicing the renowned T&G Mutual Building.

Committed to ethical business practices and continuous improvement, Jordan ensured that his team would never endure the mistreatment he once faced. This commitment fuelled rapid growth, leading to the acquisition of another commercial cleaning company on the mid-north coast three years later. The momentum didn’t stop there; Jordan soon co-founded Clean Society with two other businesses. This sister company specialises in premium external cleaning services, including pressure washing, soft washing, and window cleaning.

Today, Matthews Cleaning Co. continues to expand, investing significantly in IT and HR management systems to maintain the high standards that have defined our journey. With a dedicated team of over 100 employees across various service areas, we are committed to delivering the exceptional service that sparked our foundation.
